A Wedding With Dignity
Apr 23, 2025
For an orphan or someone struggling with poverty, the dream of a wedding can feel out of reach. The joy of beginning a new life with their beloved is overshadowed by financial burdens that no young couple should have to bear alone.
Imagine a young couple, Chaim and Yael, deeply in love and excited to start their life together. They’ve found a small modest apartment to call home, and Yael’s grandmother has offered to sew her wedding dress. But even with the simplest plans, the costs start to pile up- venue deposit, modest catering, music, flowers, basic photography to remember the day. Chaim works long hours, and Yael is studying for a degree. They’re doing their best to save, but it’s not enough. The stress is overwhelming, and they begin to wonder if they’ll need to cancel altogether.
Every couple deserves to begin their marriage with a celebration. Yad Ezra V’Shulamit created the ’Sponsor a Wedding’ program to help make that possible- so couples can mark the most important day of their lives with dignity and joy.
Giving the Gift of Celebration
For many, a wedding is a moment of pure happiness- a time of celebration and unity. But for couples facing extreme financial difficulties, it can be a source of stress and uncertainty. Support from donors can remove this burden and allow the couple to focus on what truly matters: their love, their future, and their new beginning together. Through a wedding sponsorship, a donor can give a couple the opportunity to celebrate with up to 200 guests, providing not only a beautiful hall but also catering that ensures their family and friends can partake in their joy.
Our Non-Profit Halls
Yad Ezra V’Shulamit funds two non-profit wedding halls serving orphaned couples from Jerusalem, southern, and central Israel. Their wedding hall in Tzfat supports underprivileged couples in Israel’s northern regions. These halls provide an elegant and meaningful setting where couples can celebrate their union without the stress of overwhelming expenses.
A Good Deed That Changes Lives
Sponsoring a wedding is more than just an act of charity, it is a profound mitzvah, an opportunity to fulfill the commandment of “Hachnosas Kallah”. In Jewish tradition, there is no greater joy than bringing happiness to a bride and groom, and those who contribute to this cause are promised tremendous merit. This act of kindness not only brightens the lives of the couple but also enriches the lives of the givers.
A Gift That Lasts for Generations
Contributing to the wedding of an orphan or struggling couple offers more than a single day of happiness. It sets the couple on a path filled with hope and blessing. The joy they experience on their wedding day will stay with them forever, creating cherished memories that will be passed down to future generations. The kindness of donors becomes part of their story, a lasting impact that will never be forgotten.
Honor, Memory, and Love
Each wedding sponsorship can be deeply personal. Donors may choose to sponsor a wedding in honor of a loved one, to celebrate a special anniversary, or in memory of someone dear. There is profound beauty in knowing that a couple was able to experience the wedding of their dreams, simply because someone chose to share in their moment of joy.
Joining Together to Spread Joy
There is no greater happiness than seeing a couple step forward into their new life together with love, dignity, and celebration. Those who sponsor a wedding through Yad Ezra V’Shulamit, are not just providing financial support, they are giving the priceless gift of joy and hope.
Who will be the next couple to have their wedding dreams come true? A single act of generosity can change a life forever. Join us today in spreading love, kindness, and blessing to those who need it most.
